Operatives of the Task Force on Illegal Mining have arrested a 38-year-old man for unlawful possession of suspected explosive materials.
The suspect, identified as Mustapha Mohammad, was apprehended on 27 January 2027 at about 4:15 p.m. while driving a Toyota Corolla with registration number KUJ 933 EJ.
The arrest followed credible and actionable intelligence received by the task force.
A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 954 pieces of suspected explosive materials concealed in polyethylene bags.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the items were intended for use by bandits as improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

The suspect is currently in police custody, while the recovered exhibits have been secured and handed over to the Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team for safe custody and detailed analysis.
Police authorities said investigations are ongoing to determine the source and destination of the materials, their intended use, and to identify and apprehend other persons who may be connected to the crime.
