Iran’s Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned reported threats by the United States to target the country’s infrastructure, describing such actions as “war crimes” under international law.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said the mere act of issuing threats to strike Iran’s “energy and industrial infrastructure” constitutes a violation of international humanitarian law.

He also accused Washington of giving Israel what he described as a “green light” to attack civilian targets.

According to Baghaei, such actions breach both international humanitarian law and the International Criminal Court statute, which governs the prosecution of war crimes and crimes against humanity.

He warned that any country supporting or cooperating with the United States in carrying out such actions would share legal responsibility. “All countries should know that any cooperation and collaboration with the US in committing its crimes must be held accountable as a war crime and a crime against humanity,” he said.

The spokesman added that Iran would continue to pursue diplomatic efforts alongside its military defence.

He emphasised that the country’s approach remains guided by national interests, security priorities, and what he described as the legitimate demands of the Iranian people.

The remarks come amid heightened tensions in the region, with growing concerns over the potential for further escalation involving key global powers.
