The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, has identified funding and lack of stable electricity supply as part of major challenges confronting the growth of Polytechnic education in Nigeria.

He made this known while showcasing a radio transmitter and other mechanical and Agricultural processing tools produced by students of the Institution.

The machines are produced by students of the School of Engineering, Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, Ogun State to assist the society by making things easy for people to do especially things relating to Agriculture and food processing.

The machines include, pet bottle shredder, flash dryer, chicken defeathering machine, sand sieving machine and a local snack processor known as Kokoro processing machine.

Aside from that, the students also designed a radio transmitter that can work within 5 kilometers.

The elated Rector and his team addressed the school Community through the device which was put together by the students and he called for more support for the Polytechnic.

The rector added that the innovation centre of the Polytechnic is training students on robotics engineering, designing of drones among others.

He added that the Institution is not charging school fees, except the service charge at some centres and that most of the items produced by the students were done through the use of power supply and they depend mostly on diesel to fuel the power generating set.

He assured Nigerians that the federal Institution under his watch will continue to raise the bar and remains a pride in the country.
