Residents of Kodomu and its surrounding villages in Demsa Local Government Area of Adamawa State, North East Nigeria, have expressed worries over the likelihood of a food crisis if nothing is done to check the excesses of Fulani herdsmen destroying farm produce in some areas in the state.
Spokesman of the communities and District Head of Demsa, Chief Fidelix Ali,made the disclosure to TVC News shortly after a session of intervention prayers by Christian leaders in the area, seeking God’s face for everlasting peace.
The guest speaker at the service Rev. Vinkoh Myabarabi advised Christians not to take laws into their hands but to respect the constituted authority and be more fervent in their prayers.
Some of the Christian leaders who spoke with TVC News said Fulani herdsmen are still lurking in the Kodomu farmlands with their cattle, threatening to kill the farm owners.
They however appealed to public spirited individuals and organizations to come to the aid of the villagers with food items.
The District Head Demsa Fidelix Ali commended efforts of the state government and security agencies for the arrest of some cows on their farmlands.
It could be recalled that some suspected Fulani Herdsmen recently raided Kodomun village where they massacred no fewer than 30 fleeing residents.
