Group against transfer of power to supervise oil spills

International oil companies operating in Nigeria are against the full transfer of powers to the national oil spill detection and response agency to supervise oil spills from the department of petroleum resources.

A group of Oil Producers made the submission at a public hearing by the Senate Committee on Environment to amend the enabling law of NOSDRA.

Chairman of the Senate Environment Committee, Senator Oluremi Tinubu said the public hearing is meant to restructure Nigeria’s response to oil spills.
