A cross-section of interest groups have met with officials of the Gombe State government to deliberate on the state’s 2024 budget.
This is to ensure that every section of society is involved in the preparation of the government’s financial plans.
Gathered in this hall are interest groups and influencers representing residents of Gombe State.
They have been invited here by the state government to deliberate on the state’s 2024 budget.
The principle is simple: if the money belongs to the people and the government is in place to serve, then the people must have an avenue to say the projects and programmes that should be priority.
Members of the civil society, community associations and traditional rulers made specific requests.
Most participants prioritized increased social investments followed by healthcare and infrastructure.

They also want the equitable distribution of projects.
Gombe State’s monthly internally generated revenue has increased from an average of 250 million in 2019 to over one billion.
Though the national economic outlook is challenging, the increased revenue from federal allocation and internal generation should enable the Yahaya administration to fulfil its promises to its people.
