Lecturers at the Federal University of Technology, Akure want the federal government to address the issue of staff schools in universities.
The Federal Government issued a circular in 2015 that it would no longer fund staff schools. This was one of the reasons for the current strike.
FUTA Branch Chairman of ASUU, Bola Oniya, lamented that the the decision of the Nigerian government to privatise staff schools was satanic and a breach of the agreement reached with the union in 2009.
