The United Soccer League club, Phoenix Rising, have signed Didier Drogba as a player executive, with the hope the former Chelsea star can help the team’s bid to join the Major League Soccer, MLS.
Drogba called time on his 2 seasons with Montreal Impact at the end of the 2016 season and turned down a move to Brazilian club Corinthians in January.
Drogba will team up with former New York Red Bull, Shaun Wright-Phillips as the club vies for one of the 4 expansion spots on offer from MLS that are expected to be announced later in 2017.
