Five killed as suspected Armed Robbers attack Nasarawa deputy governor’s convoy

Gunmen suspected armed robbers have attacked the convoy of the Nasarawa State Deputy Governor, Emmanuel Akabe, killing 3 police officers, a driver and a civilian.TVC News reliably gathered that Akabe was on his way to Abuja on an official engagement when the convoy ran into the robbers who were operating few kilometres away from Akwanga at about 6pm on Tuesday.

Confirming the incident, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Bola Longe said the deputy governor was going on official engagement in Abuja, when his convoy intercepted armed robbers operating on the highway.

He added that, the police officers in the pilot vehicle went to the spot of the robbery, when the robbers in the large numbers opened fire on them.

He stated that, three police officers, a driver and a civilian were killed while the deputy governor made a forceful return to Lafia.

TVC News gathered that, the remains of the officers and other civilians have been deposited at the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital.
