Fire engulfed one of the female hostels of the Gombe State University late Thursday evening, leaving students fleeing and many losing their belongings.
Male students joined the female in a spirited effort to put out the fire before the emergency service arrived on the scene.
There is no report of deaths or serious injuries as university authorities say an investigation has been launched into the cause and extent of damage of the fire incident.
