The Federal government has supplied eight trucks of assorted relief materials to victims of the recent Boko Haram attack in Garkida town, Gombi Local Government in Adamawa state
The materials included rice, vegetable oils, mats, wrappers, and blankets.
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Sadiya Farouq, presented relief materials to the government during her visit to sympathise with victims of Boko Haram attacks in Garkida.
Farouq said the relief was the first step by her ministry, in collaboration with state emergency agency to further support the state in other critical areas.
In his resonse, Governor Fintiri thanked the Federal Government for the timely intervention, assuring that the items would be judiciously utilized by the victims.
Speaking further, Fintiri explained that his administration had already discussed with the North East Development Commission (NEDC) on how to work together in rebuilding affected structures in Garkida town.
He urged quick action in the rebuilding process to enable those in displaced camps return to their homes in time for the planting season.
Also speaking, the Chairman of NEDC, General Paul Tarfa (rtd) who is from Garkida, also lauded the Federal government on behalf of his people .
He also commended Governor Fintiri for the concern he had shown to the people of Garkida.
