Vice President Kasim Shettima has addressed the United Nations food systems summit holding at the iconic African hall of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
He reaffirms Nigeria’s commitment to food security, insisting that Food insecurity knows no borders.
He says The Presidential Initiative on Food Security scales up maize, rice, cassava, and wheat production with climate-smart solutions, and Nutrition is at the heart of Nigeria’s vision From the National Development Plan to Agenda 2050.
He disclosed that Nigeria is making food and nutrition central, and The Nutrition 774 initiative brings the SDGs to all 774 LGAs, turning pledges into meals.
Nigerias VP told other global leaders that the 4th Industrial Revolution is transforming Nigerian agriculture using AI, geospatial analytics, and satellite-driven climate intelligence which is boosting production, transparency, and market access while reducing waste.
He said through partnerships with AfDB and IFAD, Nigeria’s Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones are creating jobs, attracting capital, and linking farmers to global markets, and the School feeding programs and nutrition education are building healthier futures.
