FG Determined To Remodel, Reform Economy For Devt. – Minister

Nigeria’s minister of Labour and Employment, Nkiruka Onyegiocha has affirmed the determination of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to remodel the economy within the context of national security, fast track development throughout job creation, ensure food security and end poverty.

She made the declaration at the National Directorate of Employment Special Day In the ongoing 35th Enugu International Trade Fair in Enugu.

World Bank 2022 survey revealed that over 133 million Nigerians are living in extreme poverty, in a country where over 73 percent are of productive age, within 15-45 years.

A concern the present administration promised to contain, which elicits temporary challenges.

The minister of Labour and employment explained that government is committed to achieving Higher GDP growth which would in turn enhance significant reduction of the country’s unemployment rate.

Represented by the Director General of National Directorate of Employment who spoke on government policy trust for Agriculture development which relies on access to adequate capital, to encourage indigenous farmers and ensure Agric value chain offers employment to millions of unemployed citizens.

The essence of the NDE Special Day was to expose some of their trainees to display their products for international audience, while narrating their challenges.

The DG NDE underscores the achievements of the agency that includes training of 758 beneficiaries under vocational Skills Development in 18 states across the 6 geo political zones, with 1,110 participants empowered under the Community Based Business Training Scheme in 2023.

The beneficiaries were empowered to set up individual micro enterprises within their locations to contribute to economic growth of the country.
