It’s another edition of the popular Felabration, a one-week festival set aside to celebrate legendary Fela Anikulapo Kuti. And everyone in showbiz is excited about this. From Kalakuta republic to the new Afrika shrine, the late Fela Anikulapo Kuti evolved to become the story and embodiment of afro beat music as it is known today.

Now, thousands of people have converged on Lagos to celebrate the life and times of one of Africa’s most controversial and inspirational cultural figures.

The week-long festival to celebrate late Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti entering day two, having kicked off, yesterday, with a secondary schools debate at Freedom Park, Broad Street, Lagos, the eldest son of  music icon, Femi Kuti has described his late father as “someone who had complete dedication and uncompromising attitude towards corruption in the country.”

Femi made the remark, while he was interviewed on Classic F.M on Sunday evening.  He said his late father gave Nigerians a lot of confidence through his music, which he used  as a weapon to fight against social injustice and oppression of the masses. He also recounted the kind of relationship he had with his father, saying they used to smoke together as father and son. Meanwhile, the organizers, yesterday, announced the artistes who will be taking the centre stage at the grand finale of the festival which is billed for Sunday, October 15, at the New Afrika Shrine, Ikeja, Lagos.

Music veterans like Femi Kuti, Seun Kuti and Adewale Ayuba will be joined by superstars like Davido, Adekunle Gold, Bez and Niniola amongst others as they take the Felabration stage next week. Also confirmed on the line up are Kenyan Afro-pop band, Sauti Sol, DJ Jimmy Jatt, Kiss Daniel, Koker, MC Galaxy, Viktoh, Q Dot, Terry Apala, Brymo, Jaywon and Dotman.
