The Kwara State Police Command has announced massive security deployment across the state ahead of the 2026 Eid-ul-Adha celebrations, assuring residents of adequate protection before, during, and after the festivities.
Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, gave the assurance in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, on behalf of the Command.
The police boss also extended greetings to Muslim faithful in Kwara State and beyond as they mark the 1447 AH Eid-ul-Adha celebration.
According to the statement, the Command has activated a comprehensive security arrangement involving strategic deployment of personnel and operational assets to ensure a peaceful celebration across the state.

The operational order, the police said, directs Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Commanders, and other operational units to intensify surveillance and dominate public spaces throughout the festive period.
Security presence has also been strengthened around Eid prayer grounds, recreational centres, highways, motor parks, critical national assets, and other vulnerable locations identified by the Command.

The statement added that personnel from tactical and conventional units would conduct visibility policing, intelligence-led surveillance, vehicular patrols, stop-and-search operations, crowd control, and other proactive measures aimed at preventing crime and maintaining public order.
The Command further warned residents against erecting tents, canopies, or any form of obstruction on roads and highways during the celebrations.
It noted that such acts pose both security and traffic risks, stressing that violators would be arrested and prosecuted in line with the law.

The police urged residents to remain security conscious, cooperate with security agencies, obey traffic regulations, and promptly report suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency lines.
The Command also appreciated residents for their continued support and cooperation, while reaffirming its commitment to sustaining security across the state beyond the festive season.
