The people of the Niger Delta have expressed their displeasure with the environmental pollution, and underdevelopment in the region.
But, they want the youth to adopt an intellectual approach to express their grievances, and the charges against ex-militant leader Government Ekpemupolo popularly called Tompolo to be dropped.
Ovieteme George reports that Police vans were stationed in Warri as youths mainly from Gbaramatu Kingdom staged a road walk calling for charges to be dropped against Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly called “Tompolo”
The Niger Delta ex-militant has not been seen since his travails began in late 2015.
The theme of the symposium is: “Niger Delta, the burden of resource control”.
Dropping the guns to adopt an intellectual approach to addressing the problems of the Niger Delta was also emphasized.
The people of the Niger Delta thanked Tompolo for the Maritime University, Okerenkoko and called for lasting peace in the region.
