The Coalition of Islamic organisations in Abuja has held its fifth annual peace and unity convention to reach out to Muslims and non-Muslims in the country.
The convention is focused on promoting healthy relations between Muslim and non Muslim communities in the Nigerian society.
Nigeria is a multi-ethnic, cultural and religiously diverse society that has witnessed conflicts in recent times.
As a result of this many ethnic and religious groups are determined to rediscover factors that united the nation in the past despite its complex
socio-cultural differences.

This conventions encourages Nigerians to live in peace and harmony together in line with the dictates of Islam.
Participants insisted that achieving peace and unity in the country is a collective task for all citizens and should not be left to the Federal
Government.
The convention provides an enabling environment for better co-o existence-amongst Muslims and non-Muslims in the country.
