Cattle Rustlers attack Sokoto Village, kill 5, burn 11 houses, 6 shops

Sokoto state police command has confirmed the killing of five persons by unknown gunmen suspected to be armed bandits in Adamawa village of Sabon Birni local government area of Sokoto state

The command Public Relations officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Muhammad Abubakar Sadiq confirmed this to TVCNEWS in a telephone chat.

According to him over one hundred suspected armed bandits on motorcycles invaded Adamawa village in Sabon Birni local government raided houses in the village and in the process five persons lost their lives.

Mr. Sadiq says the bandits burnt down six shops and eleven houses while five other persons sustained gun shot injuries all in Adamawa village

He also confirmed that the bandits also visited Samaye village and rustled a large number of livestock and stole other valuables belonging to the villagers

The Command’s spokesman says the attack took place by twelve midnight on January 31st and lasted to about 2:00Am on Monday morning

According to the police in the area reacted swiftly as soon as the report got to them, but were unable to make any arrest.

He says investigation is ongoing as he call on resident to be calm and allow the security agents to carryout their duty.
