Five farmers have been reportedly killed while dozens sustained severe gunshot wounds in a fresh bandits/terrorists attack on Zazzaga, Lagbe, Cibani and Injita Communities in munya LGA of Niger State.

According to reports The attack took place around 6am on Monday morning.

A source from the community said farmers were attacked on their way to their farms to harvest their crops.

He said the terrorists killed five persons and several others sustained bullet wounds.

The terrorists further advanced to the village but the inhabitants had fled.

Right now dozens of residents especially women and children have fled their homes.

According to a source that pled anonymity he said “Some of the people killed were going to farm early in the morning when they met them (bandits) on the way. They killed five people and injured others. They later went to villages but many people had already flee.

“As I speak , I am personally in Minna because these people have resumed since we started harvesting. They appear to us each time we are on our farms harvesting. Recently, I narrowly escaped on farm and I have since moved to Minna. Many of our people have fled.” He said.

Niger State Seems to be the next frontier, bandits and Terrorists are trying to open with a growing number of attacks and abduction as the biggest State by Landmass in Nigeria.

The State is also especially vulnerable to attacks as it borders Kaduna, Zamfara and Kebbi States, all States with a very sizable Banditry/Terrorists problem plaguing them.

The State Governor, Abubakar Sani-Bello, has put in place several measures including enhanced security and visits to areas that have been attacked by the Terrorists.

Terrorists bandits in the State have defied these measures by making high profile abductions in places like Kagara, wedding guests in Kontagora and attacks on Military bases within the Shiroro Local government area of the State.

They are according to Security experts an assortment of groups such as Ansarul, Boko Haram, ISWAP and Bandits who seem to be operating with scant disregard for human lives or the Security forces.
