Armed men suspected to be bandits have abducted the wife and daughter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State, Alhaji Muhammad Swasun.
The attack occurred late on Sunday in Sakpefu community. Witnesses said the gunmen stormed the area at about 11 p.m., firing shots into the air before breaking into the chairman’s residence.
They reportedly whisked away his wife, Hajia Fatima, and daughter, Amina.
Local vigilantes immediately launched a search operation, but the victims remain missing.
The incident follows a string of bandit attacks in the Patigi axis.
In recent days, Esanti and Lalagi villages were attacked, leaving a driver dead and another resident abducted.
In a separate incident on Saturday, gunmen invaded Shagbe community in Ifelodun Local Government Area, attacking the palace of the traditional ruler.
Residents said several people were killed, and others were kidnapped during the hours-long raid, despite repeated distress calls to security agencies.
