The All Progressives Congress (APC) has vowed to reclaim Oyo State from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 generalelections.

The initiative, tagged “Operation Recapture Oyo State,” was announced during a meeting of APC leaders from the ten local government areas in Oke Ogun.

The meeting, held in Igboho, was led by the party’s State leader and former deputy governor, Iyiola Oladokun.

Oladokun lamented the neglect of the hinterlands, particularly Oke Ogun, pointing to dilapidated roads, blocked drainages, refuse dumps, open defecation, and rising cases of kidnappings.

During the meeting, party leaders directed APC members to intensify grassroots mobilisation and ensure that every eligible citizen obtains their Permanent Voter Card (PVC) to help vote out the ruling PDP in 2027.

They also called for a power shift to the Oke Ogun region, particularly in selecting candidates for the governorship and senatorial seats in the next election.

The leaders urged aspirants and their supporters to conduct their campaigns peacefully and focus on strengthening the party’s presence across the state.

The meeting was attended by notable stakeholders, including former deputy governors Adeyemo Alake and Rauf Olaniyan, former Minister of Communications Bayo Shittu, as well as current and former lawmakers and party officials.

It ended with a vote of confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and a firm declaration of support for his re-election bid in 2027.
