The All Progressives Congress campaign for the forthcoming Local Government polls in Kebbi State kicked off on Saturday at a mega rally in Koko, Koko Besse Local Government Area of the State.
Governor Nasir Idris who is the APC leader in Kebbi State presented the flags of the party to the candidates aspiring to be elected as the Chairmen of the 21 Local Government Areas at the epochal event.
According to the Governor the event signified the readiness of the State government for the polls that are crucial to the socioeconomic development of the State.
Governor Nasir Idris during his Flagg-off recalled the various promises he made to the people of Kebbi State during the 2023 general elections and stated that he is proud to have fulfilled 80 percent of those promises.
He says this is evident in the defection of the PDP members to the APC in Kebbi.
Dr. Idris, urged the aspirant to be committed, patient and fair to the APC.
The former Minister of Justice and attorney general of the federation Abubakar Malami, commended the members of the party from across the state for showing full support for the ceremony.
Malami applauded governor Nasir Idris for his exceptional performance in the State, citing the exemplary developmental projects, empowerment and revamping of agriculture across the State.
Also speaking, Dr. Idris’s predecessor, Senator Atiku Bagudu, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, said that Voting governor Nasir was a Great choice which he is happy he was part of.
While delivering a speech the former Governor of the Kebbi State, Alhaji Saidu Dakingari emphasised the critical role the local governments play in the development of each State and country in general.
The State APC Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Kana Zuru announced that the party received many decampees from PDP prominent among them were the three State House of Assembly members from Argungu, Hon. Umar NaAmore, Hon.Yusuf Tilli from Bunza and Hon.Hashimu Namaliyo from Yauri constituency, PDP ward Chairmen and their Secretaries, Lami Dudu with her supporters.
