Ahead of Saturday’s election, political parties and their candidates have signed a peace accord, with a promise not only to ensure peaceful poll but also to accept the outcome.
The peace accord was facilitated by the National Peace Committee (NPC), led by former Head of State and Chairman of the Committee, Abdulsalami Abubakar.
General Abubakar appealed to voters in Imo to come out en masse to elect a Governor of their choice.
He also took the opportunity to urge young people not to be used as arrowheads in electoral violence.
He also urged security agencies not to intimidate voters, while urging INEC and its officials to hold free and credible elections with complete transparency.
