The head of the Nigerian delegation to the ECOWAS parliament is threatening legal action against the speaker of the ECOWAS parliament and the ECOWAS secretariat for defamation of character.
Yusuf Lasun, who is also the Deputy Speaker of the Nigerian House of Representatives is demanding a retraction of a statement made by the ECOWAS Parliament speaker.
Mr Lasun is presently on holy pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia and said he took necessary permission from the Nigerian Speaker and the ECOWAS speaker before travelling.
He insisted he did not request for payment from the secretariat and wonders why the speaker singled him out.
Several members of parliament have questioned the leadership style and method of the speaker, which is believed to be drawing the parliament backwards
Nigeria between 2003 to 2015 contributed about $710 Million, the highest contribution by a single country, Ghana which is the second contributed $327 million within the same period.
