Works Minister, Fashola inspects repairs of Apongbon, Ijora bridges in Lagos

The Federal Ministry of works and housing and the Lagos state government are urging people occupying species under bridges to vacate them.

Officials of the ministry and the state government stated this after carrying out inspection of Apongbon and Ijora bridges in Lagos.

It was a day of inspection for the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola.

The Minister and his team started with the Apongbon bridge in Lagos.

Workmen were seen drilling and carrying out repair works on the bridge.

The situation was also not different at the Ijora, Costain bridge under bridge as integrity test were carried out.

The more than 50 year old 4.1 kilometer bridge which has not seen much maintenance in the past years and its expansion are completely damaged, no thanks to the massive impact of the recent fire incident.

The state government again listed the roads available for diversion for motorists during the closure.

The Minister of Works and Housing Babatunde Fashola stated that under bridges are not market places.

He called for understanding as works continue on the bridges adding that it was ensure the safety of lives.
