Wife of the Delta State Governor Edith Okowa has distributed food items to Indigent women across the state to put smile on their faces in the spirit of Christmas.

In a brief ceremony in her office, Mrs Okowa handed the food stuff to State House of Assembly members and candidates in next year’s election to pass the indigenous woman in 29 State constituencies.

This this gesture is to reach out to Indigent women in rural areas who cannot afford to feed their families especially with high cost of commodities.

Mrs Okowa in collaboration with members of the PDP State House of Assembly and candidates in next election showed concern on the well being of the women.

Receiving the food items for onward distribution to the Indigent women in their various constituencies, the PDP House of Assembly candidates pledged to reach out to more women.

Addressing the candidates, Dame Edith Okowa disclosed that this is the eighth time she was reaching out to indigent women in the state, making it a yearly routine and thanked God for the privilege to give to the needy, adding that it means giving to God.

Dame Okowa explained that she decided to reach the people through their representatives in the state House of Assembly to create an avenue for bonding and to spur the members and candidates to equally emulate the gesture.

The governor’s wife urged the candidates to distribute the items which included rice, cooking oil and tomatoes judiciously, adding that through the gesture God would launch them into their desired positions.

Though, the gesture is done in the spirit of the Season, lawmakers and candidates also want them to return the favor by voting for them in March next year’s election.
