The Oyo state Government says it remains committed to tourism development and would do all possible to make the sector flourish.
The state’s Commissioner of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Williams Akin-Funmilayo made the commitment during an inspection of Agodi gardens and a planned housing project.
The visit is aimed at addressing circulating rumors that the Oyo government had sold Agodi Gardens for a housing project.
During this tour, the commissioner clarified that the planned Housing Estate Project will in no way affect not impact Agodi Botanical Gardens.
He revealed that the 46.3 hectares of forest behind the Gardens is the one to be converted to a Housing Estate.
The commissioner also clarified the false allegation that the state government had been cutting down the trees in the forest.

Agodi Gardens is on of Oyo state’s legacy occupying about 9.1 hectares of land and the government say it is open to business from investors as against the rumour of selling it for a housing estate.
