The Chairman of the Ecnomic and Financial Crimes Commission, Olanipekun Olukoyede, says the anti graft commission has recovered a reasonable amount in crypto wallets from the Ponzi scheme, CBEX.
Mr Olukoyede who spoke in an exclusive interview on TVC News’s Journalists Hangout, says the agency has gone far and made arrests.
He adds that most of the money recovered are in wallets with the arrested individuals talking and giving necessary information leading to more clues to arrest those who are currently on the run.
According to him the main culprits of the scheme and other similar ones are foreigners who use Nigerians with impecabble character and qualifications to promote the scheme giving it legitimacy.
He urges Nigerians to be wary of such schemes.
He discloses that Money paid by unsuspecting Nigerians have been moved from the original wallets to what he says are non custodial wallets which cannot be tied to a particular person.
He adds that the Money have also now moved in some instances to wallets in Eastern Europe and into places like Cambodia.
He says the EFCC has been able to block Money in some of the Wallets which have not been dissipated and will after conclusion of investigation makes its findings known.
