UBTH TO EMBARK ON 6 MONTHS FREE MEDICAL TREATMENT

The University of Benin Teaching Hospital is embarking on a six months free medical treatments to the vulnerable starting December.

The chief medical director, Darlington Obaseki who announced this during at a press briefing said he believes the gesture will help prevent avoidable deaths.

He also added that is a way to appreciate the host community

According health experts, about 50 million people die globally with a significant number of the deaths preventable while the causes of a third of them are unknown for reasons varying from poor healthcare system to high cost of treatment and ignorance.

 

To address this challenges among its host community, the University of Benin Teaching hospital says it is rolling out a six-months medical intervention programme ahead of its fiftieth anniversary with focus on some of the leading causes of deaths

The CMD also spoke on the many successes recorded by the hospital

The healthcare institution is not oblivious of the task ahead as it hopes to gain a place of pride In healthcare provision, including floating a comprehensive Cancer care centre to meet the critical needs of patients.

Corporate Social Responsibility by organisations across Nigeria is widely encouraged especially those with an host community bedevilled by Challenges that can be addressed by the Corporate organisation.

While the step taken by the University of Benin Teaching Hospital can be tagged a s an example of Corporate Social Responsibility on the part of the Hospital, it could be more properly tagged as the sealing of a relationship between the Town and The Gown.

The Outreach will also serve as a platform for people living within the Host community to have access to Healthcare they may not be able to afford if they needed it.

It will also ensure that people suffering from Non-Communicable diseases that can be managed and help prolong peoples lives.
