A massive fire broke out at the Karpeles Manuscript museum of rare manuscripts in St. Louis, Missouri on Tuesday
St. Louis Fire Department deployed about two dozen fire engines to put out the fire carrying historical manuscripts.
The museum housed some of the historical artifacts from collector, David Karpeles, which included the first draft of Bill of Rights, the paper Einstein’s E=Mc2 which was written on and Noah Webster’s first dictionary.
Fire Chief Dennis Jenkerson says his crew tried to save statues and old wooden model ships as they attended to the burning building.
No injuries were reported in the incident which Eye witnesses say raged for about two hours.
The fire engulfing the three-storey brick museum has been extinguished but the extent of damage on the museum is yet to be ascertained and the cause of fire is still being investigated.
