Tinubu Calls for Unity Against Afro-Phobic Attacks

President Bola Tinubu has called on African leaders to present a united front against the renewed wave of Afro-phobic attacks in South Africa.

Speaking through Vice President Kashim Shettima at the 69th ECOWAS Summit in Freetown, Sierra Leone, the President also urged stronger regional cooperation on security, democratic governance, trade and digital transformation.

The President reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to the new ECOWAS Compact for the Future of Regional Integration, describing it as a roadmap for strengthening peace, economic integration and democratic governance across West Africa.

He also called for stronger regional cooperation against terrorism, unconstitutional changes of government and cross-border crime, while advocating the removal of trade barriers and the creation of a Digital Single Market to boost innovation, investment and job creation.

President Tinubu pledged Nigeria’s continued support for the effective implementation of the ECOWAS Compact and its vision of a peaceful, prosperous and people-centred West Africa.
