President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Olasunkanmi Fagbemi, SAN, as he turned 67th.

In a statement on Thursday, signed by the Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy), Bayo Onanuga, the president hailed him for his excellence, integrity, patriotism, and unwavering service to Nigeria.

President Tinubu commended Fagbemi’s decades of meritorious contributions to the legal profession, beginning with his admission to the Nigerian Bar in 1985 and culminating in his emergence as one of the country’s most respected advocates and legal minds.

He said, “Prince Fagbemi’s elevation to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria at a remarkably young age reflected not only his exceptional advocacy but also the diligence, discipline and intellectual rigour that have remained the hallmarks of his career.

“Noteworthy is his extensive service to the legal profession and public institutions, including his contributions as a prosecutor, arbitrator, Life Bencher, member of the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee, the Council of Legal Education, the International Bar Association, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, United Kingdom, and several other professional bodies. His leadership of the Governing Council of Yaba College of Technology further demonstrated his capacity to strengthen institutions through prudent and principled administration.”

On his impact since the assumption of office in 2023, the president said, “Prince Fagbemi, as the Attorney General of the Federation, has provided invaluable and sound legal guidance to the administration while leading important reforms aimed at strengthening the rule of law, modernising justice administration, enhancing institutional coordination and safeguarding the constitutional responsibilities of the Federal Government. As a lawyer, Prince Fagbemi’s professional life has consistently been guided by fidelity to the law, respect for constitutional democracy and an abiding commitment to justice.

“As he marks this milestone, I pray that Almighty God will grant him many more years of good health, wisdom and strength in continued service to the nation and humanity.”
