A convergence of 35 political parties in Nigeria has pulled out of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) alliance that was formed before the 2019 elections.
Addressing a news conference in Abuja, the 35 political parties have formed a Coalition of Integrity Political Parties (CIPP) aimed at supporting the
present administration.
Correspondent Habidah Lawal reports that on July 9 2018, the Peoples Democratic Party signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with about 30 other political parties with one goal in mind, to defeat the All Progressives Congress Party.
The alliance was called Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP). But some political parties have pulled out from the alliance describing it
as a reckless and antagonistic formation aimed at destroying the efforts of the present administration.
The Coalition affirms it support for the President Muhammadu Buhari administration, asking it to step up plans and measures to boost economic
development.
They urged the president in his new administration to extend a hand of fellowship to individuals with great assets to drive home the integration
plan.
