Suspected armed bandits have attacked several villages in Sabon Birnin local government area of Sokoto state leaving many persons dead, a source in Gatawa village in the local government confirmed to TVCNEWS.
Details of the attack are still sketchy, but the reliable source says many villagers fled their homes and and have moved to Gatawa for safety as several others fled to villages in Niger Republic.
The source says military personnel were deployed to the area and many of the bandits were killed and several others injured as there were exchanges of fire between the bandits and the military.

Three military personnel sustained injury in the gun duel with the bandits and are presently been attended to in an undisclosed hospital.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Abubakar Sadiq says he is not aware of the attack but promised to talk to the press as soon as information on the attack is handy.
