Bernardo Silva scored his first goal of the season and Ilkay Gundogan added a late goal from the penalty spot as Manchester City moved to the top of the Premier League with victory over Aston Villa at the Etihad.

After 19 days without a league game following an outbreak of coronavirus, Aston Villa were thrown straight back into the deep end with a trip to in-form City, who had won five consecutive Premier League matches.

Villa had defended well to repel Manchester City, but the former premier league champions dug deep to earn the maximum points.

Elsewhere in London, Fulham are currently holding Manchester United to a 1-1 draw at craven cottage. A win for fulham will help their fight against relegation while United are looking to win to return to the top of the premier league table. The game is in its closing stages.

This is how the premier league table looks at the moment with Manchester city sitting on top and ahead of Leicester city on goals difference. Manchester United will remain in third if they fail to win tonight, while Liverpool and Tottenham make up the top five teams.
