Sudan military Council said it will restructure state institutions will be restructured according to the law.
A Lieutenant General, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan Abdelrahman has become the new head of Sudan’s transitional ruling military council.
State television broadcast his swearing-in ceremony on Saturday.
He took over the leadership of the council, barely 24 hours ago when the Defence Minister Awad Ibn Auf stepped down as as head of the council.
This came hours after the military council sought to calm public anger by promising a new civilian government.
Protesters are demanding quicker political change following President Omar al-Bashir’s ouster, by the armed forces.
The military council said earlier that it expected to institute a pre-election transition, that will last for two years, if chaos can be avoided.
