SON seizes substandard cables worth over N100m

The Standards Organisation of Nigeria has evacuated a warehouse filled with substandard wires and cables valued at more than 100 million naira in Lagos.

The imported wires and cables were stamped with the made in Nigeria mark of an indigenous cable manufacturing company.

The SON’s enforcement team led by the director, Inspectorate and compliance, Bede Obayi, stated that the seized cables does not have the SON conformity assessment document.

He also revealed that the cables would be destroyed having failed all necessary parameters after being subjected to laboratory analysis.
