Governor of Rivers state, Nyesome Wike says all projects his administration started will be paid for before he leaves office.
He said this while addressing issues concerning the party with newsmen in port Harcourt on Friday.
The governor added that most of the projects being awarded to contractors receive an upfront of 50%.
“I don’t do projects when there is no money”
Speaking about the three recently signed legislation, real estate prohibition of limiting women’s right to share family property, reverse composite treatment and care of gunshot victims, and reversed pension reform amendment law, Wike observed that, of the three laws signed, the first seemed to elicit greater reactions than the others.

He stated that he has never witnessed a civilization develop without the participation of women.
“What kind of culture is that if I have a daughter who is married and has nothing at her father’s home?
“My daughter did not get marry to anybody and therefore does not have a say in her father’s house, how can such a society develop.
He cited this as one of his accomplishments in promoting that practice.

“There are male children that struggle as well, and all they seem to care about is the father’s possessions since he has some.
He claimed it was wrong to treat a girl-child differently just because she is a girl.
Wike continued by pointing out that politics is another area where discrimination against women takes place.
“To make a woman a counselor is a problem for me, even a chairman of a local problem.
“When we sat down to deliberate on the issue, 98% of them refused.
“I appointed a woman as chairman of my local government and insisted on having a woman as a deputy in all local governments.”
“I have an intelligent wife who is a high court judge, and you tell me she has no right in her family, what kind of circumstance is that?”
“I am glad today because, when I leave, women can challenge any norms that suggest they do not have a right in their father’s house.”
