SMEDAN organises workshop for PWD’s in Katsina State

A two-day capacity-building programme for people with special needs, has opened up in Katsina to encourage entrepreneurship and self-reliance .

This initiative is organised by the Small and medium enterprises development agency of Nigeria (smedan) and the katsina state government to extend more dividends of democracy to the people with special needs.
Tvcnews correspondent Abdullatif Yusuf reports.

These set of fifty, are selected people with different forms of needs but determined to learn new skills for self-reliance under the institutional support programme for MSMEs.

It is estimated that over 31 million people in Nigeria live with different forms of special needs, a reason why the government is re-strategizing to extend its social development program to cover them.

Already, the institutional support programme by smedan is impacting lives and is to be replicated across the country.

Although informal businesses have long been in existence, recent challenges have underscored the need to get them right.

In this training, the participant will be taught how to identify opportunities and how to formalise his business for greater yield.

The Katsina state government appreciates the initiative and urges the participants to be fully grounded so they can build their future.

The national association of the people living with special needs thank the federal government for its concerns and prays greater opportunities will be extended to its members at all times.
