As the 2023 general elections draws closer, the Rivers State Social Democratic Party, SDP, has promised to run an issue-based campaign.
Senator Magnus Abe, the SDP’s governorship candidate, provided insight into his party’s strategy during a special church service to flag off and dedicate the campaigns in Port Harcourt.
Senator Magnus Abe and his wife led other members of the Social Democratic Party to the St. Paul’s Cathedral to thank God for the opportunity to contest the 2023 governorship election in Rivers State.

His candidacy was trailed by many years of controversies and political dispute spanning the last two general elections.
But as the campaigns begin, he says it is time to leave the past behind and concentrate on moving Rivers State forward.
The SDP Governorship candidate also addressed a state government order that restricts the use of public schools for campaign rallies.
Due to security concerns, political parties such as the SDP will be campaigning in a relatively tense environment.
However, in times of electoral violence and uncertainty about the future, Christian believers are encouraged to pray.
Other Social Democratic Party candidates for other elective positions, as well as hundreds of their supporters, attended the church service.
