Rotary Int'l global provides funds to IDPS, farmers in Abuja to improve agriculture

Rotary Club of Abuja Wuse district 9125 is collaborating with the Rotary Club of Minden Nebraska to launch a project targeted at increasing the capacity of IDPs and rural farmers in WASSA district APO

This was disclosed at a press conference in Abuja.

Insurgency in the North Eastern part of the country has brought about IDPS who have now settled in various camps across the country .

Most of the IDPs are still dependent on the Federal Government’s intervention as well as aid from NGOs and well meaning Nigerians .

Some on the other hand, have started fending for themselves despite being in camp, by providing their own food through farming and other occupations.

But they lack of knowledge and skills to single handedly operate irrigation farming .

Rotary Club of Abuja Wuse district 9125, has decided to support and empower them with a seventy five thousand dollar grant for a vocational project to train and improve the economy in WASSA district APO.

Rotary is encouraging training for IDPs so they can be self reliant after they return to their communities.

There is an urgent need for IDPs to be trained so they can be self reliant after they return to their communities .

At a conference, leaders of the Rotary Club of Abuja Wuse district 9125 and Rotary Club of Minden Nebraska all agree that ; the project will not only improve the lives of farmers in WASSA district but contribute to the agricultural sector in Abuja .

Both parties are optimistic that this project will serve as a beacon of hope for many farming in WASSA district APO.
