The former council chairmen are in court seeking to overturn their removal from office following the judgment of the lower court.

The former chairmen of the 23 local government areas of Rivers State were elected under the administration of former Governor Chibuike Amaechi.

Two years after the controversial election that brought them into office was nullified, they remain confident that the appeal court will bring them respite.

But the caretaker chairmen under the platform of the ruling peoples democratic party, PDP labeled the appeal an abuse of court process citing a related matter pending at the supreme court.

Ruling on the application, the three man Special Appeal Court Panel Presided over by Justice Dongbam Mensen adjourned the matter sine die pending the hearing and determination of motions filled at the apex Court.

Not discouraged by the position of the appellate court the embattled council chairmen have vowed to pursue their appeal when the case at the Supreme Court comes to and end.
