After nearly four weeks of disrupted healthcare services, the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors has suspended its industrial action.

This suspension follows an extraordinary national executive council meeting with NARD, saying the strike was halted after the association signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Federal Government.

The MoU addressed seven key conditions laid out by the doctors. Two of those demands have already been implemented.

The remaining five items, including the reinstatement of doctors in Lokoja, payment of arrears, upgrades for eligible doctors, a specialist allowance, and issues surrounding the Membership Certificate, are expected to be resolved within four weeks.

TVC previously reported that President Bola Tinubu has instructed that the ongoing industrial action by the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) be ended “as soon as practicable.”

The Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Adekunle Salako, announced this on Monday during a briefing in Abuja, saying the President directed the Ministry to take “every legitimate step to restore health services nationwide.”
