A member of the House of Representatives representing Dawakin Kudu Federal Constituency of Kano State, Muhammad Hassan, is dead.

His death was confirmed by the Spokesman of the House of Representatives, Akin Rotimi Jr., in a statement.

Until his death, Hassan served as the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Judiciary.

He was elected into the House in 2023 on the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party.

The House described his death on Friday evening as a profound loss, not only to his constituency but to the nation as a whole.

With his demise, the parliament said Nigeria has lost one of its foremost legislative counsel and legal draftsmen, whose contributions over the years significantly advanced legislative development and constitutional processes in the country.

The House extended its condolences to his family and the people of Kano State as his remains are expected to be buried later today.
