Image result for nigerian defence academyPresident Muhammadu Buhari has charged the Nigerian armed forces to remain committed to the nation’s unity.
He also wants them to go for scientific innovations, so as to add more value to the nation they have sworn to defend.

The President who was represented by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, gave the charge in Kaduna, where he was reviewing officers at the Passing out parade of cadets at the Nigerian Defense Academy.

It was a combined graduation for the 64 regular course, 65 regular course of the navy and the air force, and the short service course 44 of the army.

Professor Yemi Osinbajo commended the exhibited order, synchronization, precision, creativity and discipline.

He said threats confronting Nigeria like elsewhere have evolved, and continue to evolve.

But whether the Nigerian armed forces are evolving with the same speed and urgency, and adapting with a similar nimbleness was a question he said must be asked at all times.

He then went historical, establishing a relationship between military and scientific innovations, and how both have historically shaped and influenced each other.

He said the Internet has become a virtual training ground, for good and for evil.

The President then charged the armed forces to consider scientific innovations, and how such could be used to add value to society.

To the cadets, the President said in their hands, the future holds promise for Nigeria’s defense and security.

He charged them to rededicate themselves to their oath to constituted authority.

Those present described the President’s words as apt.

They said those toying with Nigeria’s unity must stop immediately.

The Nigerian Defence Academy was established in 1964 to provide training for the Nigerian Armed Forces.

It has so far churned out thousands to that effect.

But the NDA has also trained hundreds of officers from sister African countries.
