Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has announced the procurement of a 60-megawatt gas turbine, celebrating it as a significant achievement as the state marks its 29th anniversary on October 1, 2025.

He emphasized that once installed, the turbine would ensure 24-hour power supply, create jobs, and drive economic growth. This announcement was made during a statewide broadcast coinciding with Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day and Bayelsa’s statehood celebration.

Congratulating President Bola Tinubu and the citizens, Governor Diri expressed optimism for a brighter future. His administration is pursuing transformative projects, such as the nine-storey State Secretariat complex, designed to enhance administrative efficiency.

Additionally, the ongoing construction of a 25,000-capacity stadium aims to foster youth development and elevate Bayelsa’s profile.

He also highlighted improvements in education, noting strong NECO results and the establishment of science and vocational colleges in all local government areas.

Encouraging reflection on the state’s history and aspirations for the future, the Governor called for renewed unity and diligence among the people, affirming a positive outlook for Bayelsa.
