The Katsina state police command has appealed for calm and says it is investigating a recent incident in sabuwar- unguwa quarters in the metropolitan area of katsina which led to the death of a young boy and two others sustaining gunshot injuries.
One of the police officers deployed to the area to stop an ongoing social gathering decided to fire his gun to scare away the crowd and a group of young men who confronted him, but ended up killing an innocent boy sent on an errand.
This area in metropolitan katsina is known to be a hideout for social miscreants,but this doesn’t justify the killing of an innocent boy by the police.
Mohammadu is one of the boys caught up in yhe incident.
Hw sustained a serious gunshot wound on his abdomen and is still receiving treatment at the Katsina Teaching hospital.
The boy, in pain, narrates what he can remember about the incident that landed him in this condition.”I was sent on an errand by my mother. On arriving in the area, I saw people running and I also decided to run.
Suddenly I had a gunshot and I felt something strange in my abdomen.
When I raised my shirt I saw blood and I walked to the police to tell him you shot me. He replied it’s not a gunshot it’s a stab. But I will take you to the hospital.
I am feeling better”
The parent who declined to be interviewed by the news crew are demanding for a proper investigation and justice.
The other two boys who sustained wounds from the bullet fired by the police officers are still in trauma and are also calling for justice.
In response to this, the state command through its spokesperson assured that steps were being taken to address the further escalation of trouble ignited by the incident.
The incident only buttresses the need to caution security operatives on the use of guns in crowds to avoid unnecessary victimization and killing of innocent souls.
MILITARY DARES BADNIT DANKARAMI
The military authorities say they’ll investigate reports of reprisal attacks by bandits loyal to DANKARAMI who narrowly escaped being killed by airstrike that successfully took out his fighters.
Reports indicate that Begu- a local bandit-is believed to be behind the reprisal attack unarmed civilians in Yan Waren Daji, a village in Tsafe Local Council Area of Zamfara State.
At a news conference, Director of Defence Media Operations Major General Musa Danmadami said investigation will be launched to determine if the attack actually happened.
He warned that instead of attacking civilians bandits should consider taking on troops in the Frontline.
