Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has assured that with the latest reforms, passports will now be delivered within one week of enrolment.
He gave the assurance at the ministry’s mid-tenure performance retreat in Suleja, Niger State.
He explained that the new system will eliminate delays and extortion that once forced applicants to wait up to seven months or pay hundreds of thousands of naira to fast-track processing.
The Minister also mentioned that a centralised personalisation centre, will boost printing capacity and cut out corruption by removing approval powers from passport control officers.
