The Oyo State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to quality healthcare data while also recruiting more record officers to improve service delivery in the state.

The assurance was given by stakeholders in the state ministry of health at a meeting of the Coordination and Health Data Consultative Committee in Ibadan, the state capital.

According to experts, poor healthcare data can lead to poor care for patients which can negatively affect validity of research results and limit the value that such data may have for public health surveillance.

In view of this, health officials in Oyo State met with relevant stakeholders in the sector, to present the scorecard on current health status of the state and how to improve data processing.

The state government, through one of its officials, said the administration has made remarkable landmarks in the sector, especially reduction of infant and maternal mortality rate.

The prevalence of diseases, such as malaria, calls for proper attention, which experts say, can be overcome through improved healthcare data in the state.

The stakeholders stressed that improved healthcare data, will help the State government to achieve accountability in the sector.
