Over one thousand illegal immigrants have been arrested by operatives of the Nigerian immigration service in Kaduna state.

Most of these immigrants from neighboring ECOWAS countries got into the country through porous borders and do not possess valid travel documents.

Illegal immigrants arrested from different locations in Kaduna state by men of the immigration service were paraded at the state headquarters.

Last week, the immigration officers recovered over a thousand PVCs and other election documents were ceased from some foreigners.

This is the second time in two weeks that the service will make huge arrests since it began Special Operations as headed by the Comptroller Liman Killa.

The comptroller said the NIS will not rest on its oars until it gets rid of these miscreants as the 2023 general election is around the corner.

He added that the system has to be sanitised as a good number of these illegal immigrants do not speak or understand English.

Mr Killa also said none of the illegal immigrants have travel documents or known source of livelihood which in effect constitute a security threat to the nation.

Security authorities have blamed illegal immigrants for being perpetrators of some of the violence which is being witnessed in some parts of the country.

The Liman Killa led immigration team have promised to intensify search operations until such persons are arrested and repatriated back to their countries.
